RAPID CITY, S.D. – A protest in Rapid City did occur last night, but remained peaceful.
The protest was created by Carly Siers and it attracted hundreds of people as they marched from the courthouse to Main Street Square before ending at Memorial Park.
At one point, Rapid City police shut down St Joseph Street and redirected traffic when the protestors stopped at the courthouse.
There were a few minor altercations between motorists and drivers but police were on hand to quickly break them up.
Siers said her only intention was to have a peaceful demonstration to practice their first amendment right.
