Pedestrian struck and killed in Saturday night accident in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City police report a man is dead following a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash Saturday night.

Police reported Monday that the call came in around 11:50 p.m. for a report of a crash at the intersection of Catron Boulevard and Cambell Street. When the officers arrived, they located the vehicle involved and a male pedestrian.

According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling westbound on Catron Boulevard. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle.

Paramedics told officers the man died as a result of injuries sustained from the crash.

Law enforcement say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
