Pennington County authorities say man killed in ATV rollover

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Pennington County man was found deceased Friday morning after an ATV rollover near Hayward.

According to a Facebook post from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, the rancher had gone to check his cattle Thursday and didn’t return home. The man’s family found his body in steep and remote terrain, and called for help.

Law enforcement was dispatched to the ranch on Highway 40 about 5:48 a.m., Friday morning, to recover the body of a Hayward man.

Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Pennington County Search and Rescue, Battle Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Keystone Ambulance all responded to help.
