Pennington County Deputies and Search & Rescue locate missing people

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Three people are safe after being stranded for several hours in a remote area of Pennington County. At around 8 pm, January 23, 2020, a spouse called to report her husband should have returned from the area of Ditch Creek Road and Six Mile Road. The man suffered from a medical condition and lacked water and food. He was with a companion and a friend who had gone out to help dig out their vehicle.

Two Pennington County Deputies and eight members of Pennington County Search & Rescue were dispatched. They used our Sherp, snow cat and a tracked UTV.

The three missing persons were found approximately .8 miles east of the intersection in a second stranded vehicle. They were reached and found safe and unharmed by 11 pm.
