PIERRE, S.D. – There were 3 new deaths reported in Friday’s COVID-19 update – two of them in Pennington County. The other death was in Jackson County – that county’s first COVID-19 related death.
The new deaths in Pennington raise the county’s number of COVID-19 related deaths to 11. There have been 81 deaths statewide.
The number of new cases today was 49 with 7 new positive tests in Pennington County. The county now has 437 cumulative and 149 active cases – down one from Thursday.
Meade County reported one new case giving them a cumulative total of 41 with 14 active cases.
Lawrence County also reported a new case sending their cumulative total to 16 with 5 active cases.
Custer County also reported a new case today. Custer County now has 3 cumulative and 2 active cases.
Other cases today were 13 in Minnehaha, 4 each in Charles Mix and Lyman, 3 in Beadle, 2 each in Brown, Brule, and Hughes and one each in Brookings, Corson, Miner, McCook, Spink, Yankton and Union Counties.
The number of active cases statewide is down 9 today to 801. The number of people currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 is up 2 to 95.
