Pennington County reports half of Thursday’s new COVID-19 cases

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday. Half of those new cases were out of Pennington County.

Active cases statewide were down 5 today to 165 and the number of people hospitalized remained steady at 28.

One new COVID-19-related death was reported today, sending the state’s death toll to 2,027. The new death reported on Thursday is a woman in the 70-79 age range from Pennington County.

Pennington County had 8 new cases Thursday, sending their cumulative total to 13,894.

Meade County reported one new case – the only other Black Hills area county to report a new case.
