STURGIS, S.D. – The annual Sturgis Fly In and Car Show rolled into the Sturgis Municipal Airport on Saturday.
Over a dozen custom and vintage airplanes and cars delighted a large crowd that braved temperatures into the 90’s to not only take in the shiny machines, but to enjoy a delicious barbeque lunch.
Dave Smith with the city of Sturgis helped organize this year’s event, and he says it’s a wonderful way to get airplane and car enthusiasts together at one location.
He was pleased with year’s entries – which included a 1960 Corvette dragster for the cars and a 1929 Pietenpole Air Camper airplane.
It was custom built plane that is the pride and joy of Dave Kornmeyer of Black Hawk, who says it took him four and a half years to build.
