RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police say they have arrested a man that threatened a woman and her baby with a gun in an apartment near the area of North Maple Avenue and Surfwood Drive late Saturday night.
According to a tweet from the Rapid City Police Department, around 10 p.m. on August 21, police responded when the male suspect had entered the apartment, threatened the woman and her child with the weapon and refused to leave.
The occupants fled the apartment and there were no injuries reported.
At that point, the Rapid City/Pennington County Special Response Team was called to assist with a safe resolution to the incident.
After multiple attempts were unsuccessful in making contact with the suspect, an SRT robot was used to safely clear the residence.
Police then entered the apartment and found the suspect hiding in a bedroom.
The male suspect was taken into custody with the help of a law enforcement K9 and is charged with Aggravated Assault, and resisting arrest.
Police say the incident remains under investigation.
