Police in Rapid City identify woman killed in car vs pedestrian accident

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police have identified the pedestrian struck and killed Tuesday night as 37-year-old Terri Leading Fighter.

The woman was attempting to cross Omaha Street when she was struck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Leading Fighter was not using a crosswalk when she was struck and was wearing dark clothing.

Multiple witnesses were interviewed and stated that the female was last seen walking into the road before being struck by the eastbound SUV. Surveillance video from the area was reviewed and corroborated the witnesses statements.
