Police in Rapid City searching for two males in Monday shooting incident

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police are looking into a shooting incident that put an elementary school on secure status.

Police say 12:40 p.m. Monday, they were dispatched to the intersection of Wood Avenue and College Avenue for a report of gunfire. On arrival, police located a male subject running from the area and detained him.

After a review of security footage from a nearby camera, police determined the male subject was not responsible for the shooting. The footage showed two other subjects, one seen firing a handgun, fleeing the scene.

The shooter is described as standing approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall and wearing dark colored clothing.

The incident put General Beadle Elementary under secure status for a short time.

Police have received no reports of injury as a result of the gunfire.

Police continue to investigate the shooting and remain committed to putting all appropriate resources forward to identify and locate the offender responsible.
