Police make arrest in assault that killed one person

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say the suspect in an assault that happened Thursday has been arrested.

Allac ‘AJ’ Dismounts Thrice was arrested by Box Elder police Thursday at around 4:30 p.m.

Authorities say 39-year-old Richard Montanez of Rapid City died due to injuries sustained from the assault. The two other victims remain in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Dismountsthrice is currently in the Pennington County Jail and is being charged with one count of 1st degree murder and two counts of attempted 1st degre murder.

Police say the assaults occrred inside of a residence on the 500 block of East Monroe Street. It appears the victims had been struck with a blunt force object.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Police Department is investigating what they describe as a ‘serious assault’ that occurred inside of a residence on the 500 block of East Monroe Street .

According to RCPD spokesman Brendyn Medina, officers responded to a call at 12:15 p.m. that three victims had been struck with a blunt force object.

Several individuals have been transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Thursday afternoon, police identified a suspect.

He is 28-year-old Allac or ‘A.J.’ Dismounts Thrice of Rapid City. He is considered dangerous and the public should not approach.
