RAPID CITY, S.D. – A disturbance on January 14th escalated into an aggravated assault on law enforcement at the Cornerstone Rescue Mission, involving 30-year-old Richard Ingalls of Rapid City.
Police with the Rapid City Police Department responded to reports of a disturbance at the location at 9p.m. Sun., Jan.14. Upon locating Ingalls, he became aggressive, assuming a fighting stance towards the responding officer.
As the officer attempted to handcuff Ingalls, he physically assaulted the officer. Prompt intervention by a staff member and another arriving officer facilitated the restraint of Ingalls, who had also assaulted a staff member before law enforcement arrived.
The primary officer, injured during the assault, was transported to the hospital for treatment. Ingalls was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement and Simple Assault.
He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
