RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – In an incident that occured early Thanksgiving Day morning, a Rapid City police officer was attacked with a knife after a car chase ended in the vehicle catching fire.
After spotting a car that was driving the wrong way, officers attempted to stop the car. It caught on fire while crossing a median.
As it became engulfed in flames, the male driver and a femal passenger with a dog, fled on foot. While attempting to approach the driver, he allegedly cut one of the officers.
Authorities used a stun gun on the driver and arrested him on multiple counts. The female was arrested on outstanding warrants. Neither has been identified by authorities.
The dog was taken to an animal shelter.
Adccording to reports, the injured officer is recovering.
