Post 22 Expos Hold Off Titans

RAPID CITY, SD – The struggling Post 33 baseball squad finally got their offense going on Saturday afternoon at the Veterans Classic tourney, but the Titans couldn’t hold off the Rapid City Post 22 Expos, who downed Sturgis, 5-2.

The contest was scoreless until the top of the second inning, when the Expos plated two runs after McCoy Rippentrop singled on a 1-2 count, bringing in two runs.

The Post 22 Expos scored three more runs in the third inning thanks to a triple by Aiden Roberts.

Ryan Larson threw a complete game on the pitcher’s mound for the Expos. Larson surrendered two runs on eight hits over seven innings, walking one.

Connor Cruickshank was the starting pitcher for Sturgis Post 33. Cruickshank allowed five hits and five runs over six and a third innings, striking out four. Dylan Christenson threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Xander Heller, Adam Flohr, Dylan Christenson, Evan Stroud, Brody Royer, Bricon Herren, Owen Cass, and Cruickshank each managed one hit to lead Sturgis Post 33 (0-6).  The Veterans Classic tournament continues Sunday.
