Post 22 opens up State A Legion Tournament with win over Harrisburg

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 opened the 2022 South Dakota American Legion State Class A Baseball Tournament with a 4-2 win over Harrisburg Post 45 last night.

Palmer Jacobs pitched a complete game for the Hardhats, collecting eight strikeouts and five walks while allowing just two hits.

Offensively, Harrison Good led the Hardhats by going 2 for 2 with a run, while Dylon Marsh collected two RBI.

Post 22, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will play No. 3 Mitchell Post 18 in the second round at 7 p.m. Thursday at Fitzgerald Stadium.

Mitchell defeated Rapid City Post 320 yesterday by the score of 4-1.

The No. 6 seed Stars finished the contest with four errors, which led to two Mitchell runs, and recorded just two hits while reaching base four times on the day.

Stars pitcher Brady Fallon suffered the loss with three innings of work as the starter, allowing three runs on two hits with three walks, a hit-by-pitch and two strikeouts.

In other scores, Brookings Post 74 defeated Pierre Post 8 6-5 and Sioux Falls East rolled over Brandon Valley Post 131 14 to 2.

Today’s game feature Pierre vs Brandon Valley at 10, followed by Rapid City Post 320 vs Harrisburg.

The late afternoon game is Brookings taking on Sioux Falls East with Post 22 playing the evening game against Mitchell.
