RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 split a pair of games with top ranked Brandon Valley last night at Floyd Fitzgerald Stadium.
In game one, the Hardhats dropped a 12-8 contest to the Lynx.
Brandon Valley jumped out to a 7-0 lead only to see the Hardhats come back with 2 runs in the bottom of the second and 4 in the third to climb within one.
Brandon Valley answered with 2 in the fourth and subsequent runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh to put the game away.
Connor Knecht led the way for the Lynx with 4 hits. Bransen Kuehl had 3 R.B.I.’s to lead the Hardhats.
Zach Whitesell got the pitching loss for Post 22, going 5 innings and striking out four.
In game two, Post 22 scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh, escaping with a 12-11 win.
The Hardhats led 10-8 going into the seventh inning, but couldn’t keep Brandon Valley from scoring two runs to tie the game heading into the bottom of the inning.
Hunter Tillery and Ryan Bachman each had 3 hits to help lead Post 22. Bachman added 4 R.B.I.’s.
Post 22 is 20-8 and plays Mitchell today. Brandon Valley will play Sturgis in Spearfish today.
