RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 will play in Sunday’s state championship game after a semi-final win over Brandon Valley.
The Hardhats jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held off a late comeback by the Lynx to win 7-5.
Matt Hegre helped lead Post 22 with a 3-run homerun in the first inning. Jake Goble added another dinger in the third for the Hardhats.
Dylan Richey got the pitching win, working six innings and striking out eight batters.
Post 22 advances to the state championship game on Sunday where the Hardhats will face Brandon Valley again.
The game is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
If necessary, a second game will take place at 2:30 p.m. if Brandon Valley wins the first game.
