GILLETTE, WYO. – It was a tough weekend for Rapid City Post 320, as they lost a trio of games at tournament action in Gillette.
On Saturday, the Stars fell to the Rocky Mountain Lobos 8-3 and the Colorado Ducks 14-13.
On Sunday, Post 320 dropped an 11-8 game to Mitchell.
In their first game, the Lobos jumped out on the Stars right away, scoring 3 in the first inning and 5 in the second. That’s all they would need as they held Post 320 to just one run each in third and fourth inning.
In a much closer second game of the day, the Stars and Ducks each had 16 hits, with Colorado getting the one run win.
The winning run came in the bottom of the ninth inning as the two teams went to extra innings tied at 10. Both teams put 3 runs across home plate in the eighth to force the ninth inning.
Wyatt Hunt led Post 320 with 3 hits and 4 R.B.I.’s. Tate Walker also had 3 hits and 4 R.B.I.’s for the Stars.
In Sunday’s game, Mitchell scored 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth and then held Post 320 scoreless in the seventh to pick up the 11-8 win.
