RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Post 320 Stars picked up a big win Sunday, knocking off the the state’s top ranked team Brandon Valley.
The Stars scored four runs in the fifth inning — all they would need as they held the Lynx to just one run in a 4-1 victory.
Post 320 started out the fifth inning with singles by Gavyn Dansby and Henry London. Then, Lane Darrow hit a double that brought in Dansby and J.T. Kostenbauer brought in another run on a double. Logan Ammerman then added another double that brought in two more runs.
Mitchell Sand got the pitching win for Post 320, holding Brandon Valley to five hits and striking out three batters.
Post 320 also played Spearfish Sunday and picked up an easy 17-0 win that ended after five innings.
The Stars scored all 17 of their runs in the second, third and fourth innings. J.T. Kostenbauer and Drake Hassett had 3 hits and 2 RBI each to help lead Post 320.
Peyton Ness got the win on the mound, giving up two hits and striking out four.
Post 320 improves to 14-15 on the season.
