STURGIS, S.D. – A quarterly ceremony to honor those unaccompanied veterans who served in the military was held at Black Hills National Cemetery Monday.
The ceremony is to make sure that military funeral honors are provided to any veterans that were interred at the cemetery and did not receive honors at time of burial.
For this quarter, there was one veteran honored. It was Army Private First Class William C. Yoor.
Honors for Private Yoor were provided by the Spearfish Volunteer Honor Guard.
The cemetery holds honors for unaccompanied veterans on the first Monday of every quarter, with the next ceremony taking place on October third.
