Race for Pennington County sheriff announced

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Two people have thrown their hats into the ring for Pennington County Sheriff.

Current Chief Deputy Brian Mueller announced his candidacy for Pennington County sheriff Monday.

His supporters gathered at the Rushmore Hotel in Rapid City, including local business owners, members of law enforcement, and county officials.

Current Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom announced he is not running for re-election and is supporting Mueller.

Mueller will be running against a challenger – that is Ryan Mechaley.

Mechaley is a former South Dakota Highway Patrol show grew up in New Underwood.
