Rapid City-based National Guard detachment will deploy to Europe

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota National Guard’s 129th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment has received a federal mobilization order for a 12-month deployment to Europe beginning in May 2022.

Soldiers with the Rapid City-based unit will provide public affairs support to units within the European Command area of operation.

The unit is comprised of officers and mass communications specialists which gather and distribute print and broadcast media, facilitate civilian news media, and support command communication initiatives.

The unit will report to Fort Bliss, Texas, to complete several weeks of training prior to deployment overseas.
