RAPID CITY, S.D. —In response to concerns of rioting across the nation, the Rapid City council took steps to put in a curfew in an emergency situation.
The council on Monday night gives Mayor Steve Allender authority to declare a curfew in emergency situations.
The measure passed unanimously. Under the resolution, the Mayor’s authority to impose a curfew expires in 60 days.
The resolution allows the mayor to impose a curfew in order to prevent riots, and to preserve the peace, safety and health of community members and residents.
