RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department was dispatched to Cowboy Hill at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon for a report of two separate fires.
A hiker had called 911 after seeing the fires on top of the hill.
Firefighters had some challenges getting to the fire but were able to gain access through both the east and west side roads.
The fire to the south ended up a quarter acre in size, and the fire to the north was a tenth of an acre in size.
The cause remains under investigation.
