RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City fire crews responded to a structure fire at approximately 11:30 Monday.
Crews were sent to 1132 Range View Circle, and upon arrival, saw flames and heavy smoke coming from the garage of a home.
Within 15 minutes, RCFD crews were able to knock down the fire and reported no injuries in the incident.
The fire originated in the garage of the home and spread to the attic and the rest of the home.
Rapid City Police Department Community Relations Officer Brendyn Medina says homes in the immediate vicinity were evacuated as a precaution, but the fire was contained to the original structure.
Both RCPD and RCFD would like to remind the public to stay away from active scenes.
“If you hear of any sort of incident, don’t come to it,” says Tessa Jaeger, the Public Information Officer for the Rapid City Fire Department. “Wait until you all put it out on the news. You don’t need to be coming in and clogging up the streets for first responders to do their jobs.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
