RAPID CITY, S.D. – The State Track and Field meet is not too far away, and in Rapid City, athletes participated in one of their last chances to qualify at Tuesday’s Last Chance Track and Field Meet.
In boys events;
There were six different winners in the six solo running events.
Jaden Guthmiller of Spearfish won the 100 meters, Justin Juniel of Stevens captured the 200, William Williams of Spearfish got the 400, Keenan Urdiales of Spearfish won the 800, Deron Graf of Sturgis won the 1,600 and Joey Dewhurst of Stevens won the 3,200 meters.
In the hurdles, Aiden Hedderman of Sturgis captured the 11o meters with Keaton Fierro of Stevens winning the 300 meters.
In the relay races, Rapid City Central dominated by winning the 4 x 100, the 4 x 200 and the 4 x 400.
Jason Maciejczak of Douglas was a double event winner, taking first place in the shot put and discus.
Sam Catlette of Rapid City Central won the javelin, Beck Morgan of Stevens won the high jump, Aiden Hedderman of Sturgis won the pole vault, and Isaac Flanegan of Central won the long jump and the triple jump.
On the girls side;
Matayah Yellow Mule of Rapid City Central won the 100 meters, Brooklyn Jurgens of Stevens claimed the 200, Novali Dinkins of Sturgis got the 400, Siera Sandford of Spearfish won the 800, Briona Holso of Stevens won the 1,600 and winning the 3,200 meters was Sierra Meredith of Stevens.
In the hurdles, Baylee Van Zee of Stevens won the 100 meters with Anna Hoffman of Spearfish winning the 300 meters.
In the relay races, The Stevens A Squad took first place in the 4 x 100, the 4 x 200 and the 4 x 400.
In field events, Lexi Long of Sturgis won the shot put with Olivia Ashley of Douglas winning the discus. Brynn Nelson of Stevens won the javelin with Long finishing in second.
Avery Kirk of Spearfish won the high jump, Gretchen Adamski of Spearfish won the pole vault, Giana Smith of Stevens captured the long jump, and Matayah Yellow Mule won the triple jump.
