Rapid City man sentenced to prison for shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for randomly shooting into a  carload of people three years ago.

Dwight Quigley earlier pleaded guilty but mentally ill to four counts of aggravated assault and one count of carrying a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Prosecutors say Quigley fired about ten rounds from an AR-15 style rifle into an occupied car. The bullets struck the driver of the car and two other passengers.
