Rapid City names new Fire Chief, Police Chief

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City named its new Chief of Police and Fire Chief at their Monday night council meeting.

Jason Culberson was confirmed as Rapid City’s new fire chief by unanimous vote of the City Council Monday night at Council Chambers.

Also, Don Hedrick was confirmed as Rapid City’s new police chief in a unanimous vote of the City Council.

Both were sworn in by City Finance Officer Pauline Sumption.

Culberson and Hedrick — the only people who applied for the chief positions — were recommended by a citizen panel and Allender.

They also served as a interim chiefs after the retirements of Fire Chief Rod Seals and Police Chief Karl Jegeris.
