Rapid City Police announce arrest in deadly hit and run crash

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say 27-year-old Jordan Hare of Rapid City has been placed under arrest for Felony Hit and Run after a car-vs-pedestrian crash that took the life of 14-year-old Nevaeh Brave Heart in the early morning hours of October 14th.
Through diligent canvassing of the area of the crash, police recovered security photos and videos of the suspect vehicle as it left the scene of the crash. Through this method, police tracked the vehicle as it fled the scene to its final destination at a residence in southern Rapid City.
The vehicle, a 2008 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, was located and seized by law enforcement in the evening hours of October 17th. Through additional follow-up, police were able to positively identify Jordan Hare as the driver of the pickup at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody this afternoon.
The investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing by the RCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division, with the potential for additional charges pending. The RCPD would like to thank the various members of the public who have offered their assistance in this investigation since it began on October 14th.
