Rapid City Police arrest juvenile in connection with fatal Sunday shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say a juvenile male has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday.

Police say the shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. at a residence in the 400 block of Tamarack Drive. Authorities responded to a report of a shooting, and upon arrival, located the victim, identified as 19-year-old Jayden Russell.

Russell was found unresponsive at the scene and eventually died as a result of the shooting. RCPD has continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, police say are extremely limited in the amount of information that can be released about the incident.
