Rapid City Police arrest man in connection with convenience store robbery

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Police arrested a man after robbery at a Rapid City convenience store Saturday night.

Authorities say 22-year-old Clayton Otto was arrested early Sunday morning for first degree burglary.

Police say the robbery happened at the Loaf – N – Jug store on Mount Rushmore road Saturday night. A man reportedly entered the store around 11:35 brandishing a shotgun and demanded money from the register.

Police reviewed surveillance video and tracked the suspect’s footprints in the snow to a home on the 800 block of Clark Street. Neighboring home security camera footage showed the suspect going into the home.

A warrant for Otto’s arrest was issued and a search of his home recovered a shotgun and clothing reportedly worn by the robbery suspect.

Otto was taken to the Pennington County Jail.
