Rapid City police arrest man in connection with robberies

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police have arrested a man in connection with recent robberies.

On Thursday, May 6th, police report being dispatched to two robberies.

The first was at approximately 2:15 a.m. on E. North Street. The suspect, an unknown male, left when the clerk didn’t comply with his demands for money. Then at around 2:20 a.m. police were dispatched to Mt. Rushmore Road for a second robbery. Again, an unknown male stated he had a gun and demanded money from the register which the employee complied.

The Rapid City Police Department developed a suspect and vehicle description from witness statements and surveillance videos and located the vehicle on E. Fairmount Boulevard. After searching the vehicle with the suspect’s consent, police found a knife and a grocery bag with the name of the business on Mt. Rushmore Road containing cash. Both business employees positively identified the male suspect.

The suspect was identified as Christopher Cermake, 33 of Rapid City. He was placed under arrest for two counts of Second Degree Robbery.
