Rapid City police chief named to commission on missing and murdered indigenous people

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police Chief Don Hedrick has been named to the National Commission on Missing and Murdered Indigenous people.

The cross-jurisdictional commission is composed of law enforcement as well as tribal leaders and federal partners.

The announcement came Friday, following the Day of Awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.

The commission will meet over 18 months, addressing everything from coordination of resources to the accurate reporting of statistics.
