RAPID CITY, S.D. – Police in Rapid City have installed cameras in Memorial Park, following two recent drownings and what police call a significant amount of assaults, often affecting the homeless population there.
Rapid City Police Lt. Brian Blenner says the cameras will serve as another tool to aid in a potential investigation and will not be monitored 24/7.
The cameras were installed in conjunction with the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center and the Rapid City Parks Department.
There are currently six cameras up and working, with another two cameras on the way.
