Rapid City police investigating Friday night shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police Department officers were dispatched to an apartment at 100 Surfwood Drive Friday evening for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located a single male with gunshot wounds. A medical unit arrived shortly after and transported the man to a hospital.

The man’s injuries appear to be serious, but non-life-threatening.

The Rapid City Police Department is seeking the public’s help to locate 17-year-old Deaundrea Janis.

Janis has been identified as the suspect in the shooting.

Police believe Janis is armed and should not be approached.

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Deaundrea Janis should contact police immediately at 605-394-4131. An anonymous tip can be submitted by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
