Rapid City Police investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide in the Valley

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Police in Rapid City are investigating what appears to a be a murder-suicide outside an establishment in Rapid Valley.

Police were dispatched to the business at the intersection of E St Patrick Street and S Valley Drive. Upon arrival, they located two individuals outside with fatal gunshot wounds.

In a Facebook Post, RCPD wrote:

At around 7:40 p.m. police were dispatched to the business adjacent to the intersection of E Saint Patrick Street and S Valley Drive for a report of an individual with a gunshot wound. On arrival, police located two individuals with fatal gunshot wounds outside of the business. At this time, preliminary information gathered in this investigation indicates the incident was a murder-suicide. There’s no reason to believe there is any ongoing threat to public safety at this time.

The post also went on to read:

The collective sympathies of the RCPD go out to those affected by this senselese tragedy. Should anyone know of someone dealing with thoughts of self-harm, help is available through a number of resources including the helpline at 1-800-273-8255.

Saturday night’s incident remains under investigation.
