Rapid City Police make arrest after shooting report on North Lacrosse

Rapid City Shooting Incident

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City police say they have made an arrest after a reported shooting incident Friday night.

In a release, police say they responded to 1200 N. Lacrosse Street for a report of an individual firing a gun from a vehicle.

Officers were able to obtain good information from several reporting parties about the suspect’s description and location.

Officers quickly converged on the area and were able to safely detain the individual prior to him entering the store. Store employees worked to secure the store prior to the suspect’s potential entry.

No gun was located on the suspect’s person, however a gun was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.

Police say 32-year-old Jared King has been placed under arrest for Possession of a Loaded Firearm While Intoxicated, DUI, along with other firearms-related charges.

At this time, police have received no reports of injuries or damage to property as a result of the initial gunshots.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
