Rapid City Police make arrest in connection with Thursday stabbing on Maple Avenue

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City police have arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing Thursday that left a man with serious injuries.

Police responded to the incident in the 1700 block of Maple Avenue to find the male victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest. A medical unit arrived and took the man to the hospital.

After speaking with witnesses, police identified 28-year-old Jeff Shoulders of Kyle as a suspect. Using witness statements, police located him in an apartment on Surfwood Drive.

Police formed a perimeter around the apartment. At one point, Shoulders exited the apartment and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Shoulders was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault and subsequently transported to the Pennington County Jail.
