Rapid City police make arrest in Friday morning shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City police says they have arrested a suspect in the Friday morning shooting of a man near the intersection of North Maple Avenue and Van Buren Street.

Police report 31-year-old William Daly of Rapid City has been identified as the suspect.

Based on the progress of the investigation at this time, Daly has been booked into the Pennington County Jail for the offenses of Aiding/Abetting Attempted First Degree Murder, Distribution of a Controlled Substance and three counts of Ingestion of a Controlled Substance.

The shooting victim remains in critical condition.

The RCPD continues to actively investigate the incident in cooperation with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities request that anyone with information about the shooting or the circumstances surrounding it should contact police at 605-394-4131. An anonymous tip can also be submitted by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ to 847411.
