Rapid City Police say juvenile pedestrian killed in hit and run incident

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver involved in a hit and run crash that killed a young girl.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – According to the Rapid City Police Department, at around 12:25 a.m. on Friday a pickup truck crashed into a juvenile female at the intersection of LaCrosse Street and Van Buren Street, killing her. Witnesses said the truck fled the scene southbound after the impact.

The girl was unresponsive when police arrived, and declared deceased by a medical unit shortly afterward, police said.

According to police, the truck was described by witnesses as a ‘newer’ dark-colored full-size pickup truck.

Anyone with any information should contact Detective Brendan Lenard at 605-394-4134, or submit an anonymous tip by texting RCPD and the information to 847411.
