Rapid City Police say person shot Friday dies; search for second suspect underway

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say the victim in the August 13th shooting near the intersection of N. Maple Avenue and Van Buren Street has died at the hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting.

Suspect William Daly’s arrest has been updated to reflect the offense of First Degree Murder. Daly was charged with several other drug related crimes.

The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Austin Freeman of Rapid City.

James Johns with the R.C.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Division says “Freeman was in the wrong place at the wrong time when he encountered Daly.”
