RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City police are investigating the discovery of human remains on a hillside near the 1900 block of Hillsview Drive.

The remains were discovered by children playing on the hillside around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police have confirmed that the remains are from of an adult male, and are working to identify the body.

There are no preliminary signs of foul play or trauma, police said, but the remains have been on the hillside for a number of weeks.

Police will be working with a forensic specialist to determine the person’s identity and cause of death, and said this could take several weeks.
