Rapid City Police search for suspect allegedly involved in weekend shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police are searching for a suspect they believe is responsible for a shooting incident that took place outside of a residence on N. Lacrosse Street Sunday.

At around 4:30 p.m. on March 19, police were dispatched to 1375 N. Lacrosse Street for a report of a person who had just been shot. On arrival, police located the gunshot victim inside the store with an obvious gunshot wound to the leg. Emergency first aid was rendered until a medical unit arrived.

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Police spoke to witnesses about the incident.

One witness told police there were sitting outside the store with the victim when they were approached by three unknown subjects.

During the interaction, one of the subjects began assaulting the victim before pulling out a gun and shooting the victim in the leg.

All three individuals then fled the area on foot. The shooter is identified as a Native American male in his 20’s, around 5’9”, 160 lbs., wearing a Carhartt jacket and brown pants at the time of the shooting. The second subject is described as a Native American male in his 30s, around 5’8’, 180 lbs., wearing a blue t-shirt, black jeans, with tattoos on his neck and both arms. The third subject is described as a Native American female in her 20’s, approximately 5’11”, 200 lbs., with dark-colored hair, wearing a blue shirt and jeans, with a tattoo of a star on the left side of her face.
