RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 swept a doubleheader away from Sturgis Wednesday night.
In game one, the Hardhats rolled to a 10-0 win in five innings.
Post 22 got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning as Colton Hartford scored on a throwing error.
The Hardhats then added four more in the second as Bransen Kuehl and Ryan Bachman each hit two-run homeruns.
Post 22 would end the game as doubles by Kuehl and Hartford scored 5 more runs.
Bachman finished 2 for 3 with 3 R.B.I.’s and Kuehl was 2 for 3 with 4 R.B.I.’s.
Dylan Richey got the pitching win for Post 22, striking out 10 batters and allowing just one hit in four and two-thirds innings of work.
In Game two, Post 22 used a 4 run fourth inning and five run fifth inning to win 9-2.
Isaac Arnold’s triple opened the scoring for the Hardhats in the fourth as Dylan Richey scored. Arnold would then score on a hit by Jake Goble and Goble crossed home plate on an errant throw.
In the fifth inning, Bachman’s solo home run made it 5-0 before Arnold would score on another Titan throwing error. A triple by Kuehl would make the score 9-0 Hardhats.
Sturgis added two runs in the sixth as Ridge Ihofer scored on a Dustin Allen hit and Dylan Gillepsie scored off a John Fisher hit to end the scoring.
Kuehl went 2 for 3 with 3 R.B.I.’s to help lead Post 22.
