RAPID CITY, SD – Post 320 first baseman Max Speed went 3-for-4 at the plate as the Stars defeated the Sturgis Post 33 Titans 14-4 in six innings on Friday at Pete Lien Memorial Field.
Post 320 got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, plating three runs. The Stars scored four more in the second and three runs in the third to lead 10-2 headed into the fourth inning.
The Titans scored two more runs in the top of the fourth to cut into the Post 320 lead. The Stars kept the pressure on, scoring four over the next three innings to get the win by the 10-run mercy rule, 14-4.
Anders Lockhart got the pitching win for Post 320. The righty allowed no hits and no runs over two innings, striking out two and walking two. Carter Williams took the loss for Sturgis Post 33. The starter surrendered two hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, walking six.
The Stars collected 10 hits and were led by Speed the three hits and three runs scored. Gavin Heintzman and Ian Feeger each had two hits for Post 320. The Stars stole 12 bases in the game.
Jeren Andrzejewski, Drew Janke, and Kjell Sundstrom each had a hit a hit for the Titans. Carter Williams drove the middle of the lineup, leading Sturgis Post 33 with two runs batted in.
Post 320 improves to 7-8 on the season and play at home on Thursday against the Aberdeen Smittys. Sturgis Post 33 falls to 0-2 and takes on Rapid City Post 22 on Tuesday at Fitzgerald Stadium.
