Rapid City School District close to hiring superintendent

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Board of Education is scheduled to vote on hiring Dr. Jami Jo Thompson as the district’s next superintendent during the board meeting on Tuesday, March 18th.

Dr. Thompson, who currently serves as the superintendent of Norfolk Public Schools, is a seasoned educational leader with extensive experience in school administration. She emerged as the leading candidate after a comprehensive search and interview process.

Sara Hornick, the executive director of the Rapid City School Board Foundation, was in attendance during the hiring process.

“I’m looking forward to working with Dr. Thompson. She is coming with a wealth of experience and a lot of knowledge. As a person on the community interview team, she seems to be in touch with the communities she has worked with, and I look forward to having her implement those ideas in our a community. ”

The board will vote during the public meeting at 5:30 PM at the RCAS Education Center Building (625 9thStreet). This meeting will also be available via live stream for those who wish to follow along.
