RAPID CITY, SD — The Rapid City Stevens Raiders baseball team remains unbeaten after throttling the Sturgis Scoopers 16-1 on Friday night at McKeague Field.
Sturgis got on the scoreboard and led 1-0 in the top of the first, when Dylan Christianson scored on a fielder’s choice. Stevens tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first after Jackson Dial scored on a single by Mason Brooks.
The Raiders added five runs in the second inning, two in the third and eight more in the fourth to end the game due to the 15-run mercy rule.
Brooks earned the pitching win for Stevens (4-0). The Raiders pounded out eight hits and were led by Brody Thompson, who went 1-for-3 and scored two runs with two RBIs.
Aiden Wood took the loss for Sturgis (1-3). Xander Heller, George Hamer, Dylan Christianson and Beau Peters each had one hit for the Scoopers.
Sturgis has a long break and are in action next on April 15 at McKeague Field when they meet the Douglas Patriots.
