Rapid City Stevens rolls over Scooper girls and boys Thursday

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Stevens celebrated senior night and a couple of victories as they cruised over the Scoopers Thursday night.

In the girl’s game, Stevens jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the first quarter and never looked back — running away with a 65-21 win.

The Raiders saw three players score in double figures, led by Kenadi Rising’s 16 points.

Sturgis, plagued by turnovers, didn’t score double-digits in any quarter.

Sarah Janz led the Scoopers with 7 points. The loss hurts the Scoopers chances of making the SoDak Round of 16. They are currently sitting in 17th in seed points with just one game left to play.

In the boys game, the Scoopers got outscored 12-5 in the first quarter, but kept pace with the Raiders in the second quarter. Down by just 7 to start the third, Stevens went on a 22-6 run to pull away and get the 64-38 victory.

The Raiders had a well balanced attack, led by Mason Steele’s 12 points.

Sturgis was led by Ryder Ladner’s 18 points.
