Rapid City woman sentenced for meth distribution

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A Rapid City woman has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance.

Sara Skinner, 34,  was sentenced on June 4 to 20 years plus five years supervised release.

In the latter-half of 2019, other conspirators trafficked meth to South Dakota from Nevada, which Skinner then allegedly distributed.

This case is being prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts. PSN is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime

This case was investigated by the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team (UNET), Drug Enforcement Agency, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
