Rapid Valley fire crews respond to overnight structure fire

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid Valley Fire Department responded to a structure fire around 1:48 am on Saturday, April 23 at the 600 block of Old Folsom Rd.

The crews arrived on the scene to find a home under construction and uninhabited on fire with heavy smoke in the interior structure and roofing assembly.

The firefighters had to not only battle the flames and smoke but sustained winds of 38 mph and gusts up to 55 mph. Despite adverse conditions, they were able to extinguish and contain the flames to the original structure.

In a statement released by Pennington County Fire Service, no firefighters, civilians or animals were injured.
